The Reader Confessions Tag

I finished Six of Crows yesterday and that book was AWESOME! I was planning to do a review for it, but I’m in a bit of a hurry today and I want to do it justice. So instead, I’m doing this.

I was tagged by Caitlyn @ Thrice Read, if you don’t already know about the girls at Thrice Read, go and find out. They have a great blog. Thank you Caitlyn for the tag!

Without further ado, these are my confessions!

1. Have you ever damaged a book?

*hangs head* Yes. More than once. In my defense, they were usually very old and fragile books and it wasn’t my fault I wanted to flip the pages quickly. I just wanted to know what happened next!

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

Yes. And it ended up being my book. Someone lent me their copy of The Hobbit years back and I spilled coffee or hot cocoa or something on it. And then I just never gave it back and I still own a stained copy of The Hobbit. Muahaha. I wanted to give it back, but then they moved away and never asked for it and well… I was going to love the book more than they did anyway. 😀

3. How long does it take you to read a book?

Depends on the book. But on average, I’d say 2-3 days when I’m reading at my ‘normal’ pace. I’ve finished plenty of books in just a few hours and it’s also taken me over a month to finish some (I’m looking at you, Hundred Year Old Man!).

4. Books you haven’t finished?

Not many. I will usually finish a book if I started it, even if I don’t like it. I think the most recent one that I just couldn’t get myself to finish was The Game by Terry Schot. That book was just awful.

5. Hyped/popular books you didn’t like?

Every Richelle Mead book I’ve read. Which is to say Soundless and Vampire Academy. Both of them seemed like they had potential, but they just didn’t deliver.

6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

Not really.

7. How many books do you own?

It’s in the low hundreds. I don’t actually know for sure because a) my books are not all in one place and b) I have a lot of really old books that don’t have bar codes, which makes it difficult to use any indexing app and I’m too lazy for just good old counting. So I genuinely don’t know. But one thing I know for sure is that I have more and more every month and I’m running out of space.

8. Are you a fast or slow reader?

Fast. Although sometimes, I can be really slow if the book is boring or I’m in a big slump (like now).

9. Do you like to buddy read?

I’ve never tried. But I don’t see why I wouldn’t.

10. Do you read better in your head or aloud?

In my head. I read faster than I can speak, so when I try to read out loud, I either have to read more slowly, which is annoying, or I make a lot of mistakes because my eyes and my mouth are not in sync.

11. If you were only allowed one book, what would it be and why?

The Bible. Because it’s the Bible. But please don’t take my books away. I need them all.
