Pokemon GO! Book Tag

Pokemon GO! Book Tag

I was going to do a review, but then I saw Caitlyn over at ThriceRead do this and it’s such a cute tag that I just had to. The review can wait until next time.

This tag and the graphics were created by ReadAtMidnight. These graphics are everything though!

I don’t think there is any book in particular that started my love for reading. I’ve loved books since before I could read and I’ve loved reading ever since I could read, which was at a fairly young age.

pokemon-tag02pikachu

The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Many people find the books intimidating or difficult to read or even boring. But I’ve read them 3 times and I will always love them. I grew up loving the books and the films like some people grew up loving Harry Potter and it’s always going to hold a very special place in my heart.

pokemon-tag-03-zubat

Hmmm, I don’t really know. I don’t generally care whether a book is hyped or not as long as I like it and I like forming my own opinions. So I don’t think I have an answer for this.

pokemon-tag-04-ditto

I mean, this happens all the time. There are a lot of things that most YA books have in common and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Off the top of my head, I’ll say The Young Elites by Marie Lu. It reminds me of The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Or I suppose it’s the other way around, since I actually read The Young Elites before reading The Darkest Minds. And they remind me of one another because of the whole super-power endowing disease, because other than that, the characters and setting are really different.

pokemon-tag-05-snorlax

Hmm… I don’t normally have a problem with this. I don’t mind big books. There are a couple of series I’m not going to start because they’re so long, but those are series I had minimal interest in anyway. Yeah, I have no answer for this. Size just doesn’t matter to me.

pokemon-tag06-gengar

There are two ways to interpret this question. The Schwarzschild Radius by Gustavo Florentin kept me up at night because it just freaked me out and I was honestly afraid I would have nightmares if I slept. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas kept me up at night because I wanted to finish it.

pokemon-tag07-nidokingqueen

Feysand! I love them. I don’t think I’ve ever shipped anyone as hard as I ship them. Not even Wessa, which previous to reading ACOMAF was probably my favourite bookish couple.

pokemon-tag08-rapidash

I’ll say Tangled by Emma Chase. Because this book was hot. And it was a very fast read and I was really pleasantly surprised by it and it was actually like… fire-hot.

pokemon-tag09-eevee

Shadowhunters. Probably Harry Potter. And Sarah J. Maas books. Honestly, as long as the plots keep being good and fresh and the world is interesting, I will never get tired of spin-offs. I mean, I love learning new worlds, but I also love exploring known worlds and getting to know more about them.

pokemon-tag14-magikarp

My most recent read Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid. I’m not normally into chick-lit, but this one really surprised me. I really liked it and in fact, this post is replacing the review I intended to do of it, but stay tuned for that soon.

pokemon-tag12-legendary

All of Rick Riordan’s series. I’ve only read the first four books in the Percy Jackson series, but I’m really looking forward to read the rest of his series and I’m especially excited for Trials of Apollo.

pokemon-tag15mew-mewtwo

I hate having the same answer twice in one tag, but this is probably the only collector’s edition I REALLY wish I had. And that is The Lord of the Rings. I have a slight obsession with buying Tolkien’s books, even though I will probably never read them. And I really want a LOTR collector’s edition.

pokemon-tag10-egg

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. I know it’s been out for a while now and her second book is out already. But this was her debut and I’m excited about reading it.

pokemon-tag11-lure-module

Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare, Tolkien and John Green.

I was tagged by chicnerdreads to do this, thank you very much for tagging me! I love tags. So let’s get on with it.

  2. Fill out the 9 questions in the tag
  3. For each question, insert a gif of how you feel about the book(s) or author.
  4. Tag 5 people and/or everyone to do this tag!
  5. Before you post the tag, do a five-second party dance. Cause you dat awesome

*coughing away dust motes* I knew there was a good reason I never deleted my gif folder. I’m so excited about this, I’m doubly excited because gifs are involved!

Questions:

Best story premise?

lord_of_the_rings_book_cover_by_mrstingyjr-d5vwgctOh my God! This is really difficult. So many amazing premises especially when it comes to epic fantasy. Hmmm… I’m going to say The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Just because the book itself is like a premise for the whole epic fantasy genre. So without it, there would probably be a whole lot fewer awesome premises in the world.

Best world building?

booksI have to say A Song of Ice and Fire by G. R. R. Martin. I mean, have you read those things? The world-building is incredible. The amount of history and tradition and cultural elements in the series is phenomenal. The only other world this complex I’ve ever encountered before is Tolkien’s. But I don’t like having the same answer twice and anyway, ASOIAF definitely deserves this one.

Best character?

clockwork-angelAll these questions are so difficult! Best as in “my baby”, best as in most interesting or most complex. Because those questions have different answers. This is distressing. Okay, I’ll just go with the “my baby” answer. And for that, I have Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

Best series?

8uk-children-thomas-taylorThis just has to go to the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, because no matter how many times I read that series, it never gets old. It’s one of those series that I usually put on some level above everything else and I don’t generally use it to compare anything to it because I feel like it wouldn’t be fair to all those other amazing books out there. Just like The Lord of the Rings, it’s in a league of its own, in my opinion.

Best tear jerker?

  the_fault_in_our_starsclockworkprincesscoverspecial2-265x400me-before-you-book-cover

Honestly, I don’t cry very often when it comes to books. There are 3 books that have gotten tears out of me in recent history and I don’t think I could put one over the other in terms of which one is the better tear-jerker. Because they all made me cry about the same. So, I pick all three. Nowhere in the rules is it stated that you can’t do that. So here they are: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

Best author?

sarah_j-_maas_18439I will give this one to Sarah J. Maas. She’s one of my favourite authors and both her series are among my favourites (I’ve been practically swooning over ACOMAFF for the past two months). She’s just so cool and I’m so excited to meet her this fall!

 photo tumblr_m8b10f369o1rraft8_zps9097b698.gif

Best writing style?

324620Laini Taylor. Hands down one of the most beautiful writing styles I’ve come across. The way she creates suspense, the little plot twists at every corner and then just the beautiful, poetic way in which she puts words together. I adore her writing. It’s magical.

Best cover?

51tgsgjianl-_sy344_bo1204203200_This is so difficult. So many books with gorgeous covers. To make this easier, I will limit myself to books I actually own physical copies of and that have not been featured in this post. And I’ll say Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. I love it so much, I have been known to just stare at it and run my fingers over it.

tumblr_m5vv1wtclh1r3zat8

Best ending?

acomaf-cover-3A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. The ending just made me punch the air in triumph and happiness and I was so freaking happy. I felt empowered by it, which is an odd choice of words, I guess, but that’s how I felt.

 photo tumblr_lnv7jup7AR1qipevd.gif

I feel like that’s a good gif to end this post with. Now, for who to tag. I don’t know who’s done this and who hasn’t, so sorry if you’ve already done it, but here it goes.

The Jouska

RavenclawPride

And I don’t know who else to tag up to 5 because I haven’t been around here for long enough to know that many people. But if this seems like something you’d like to do, then please go ahead. I tag you.
