I’m writing all the negative posts of late. But here are some popular books that I just have no interest in. I could include most popular contemporaries on here because that’s just a genre I very rarely want to read, so I’m very selective about which ones I read. But I’m going to be talking about books in genres that I generally read that for some reason don’t interest me. Maybe I’ll make a separate post talking about contemporaries I am interested in.
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
Starting off with a fantasy. I just have no interest in reading this. It’s that whole girl is forced to marry some prince or live in a palace and serve the king or something like that. I’ve seen that done to death. I never particularly enjoyed that trope. And the only thing that really seems to set this one apart is that it’s got a female/female romance in it. I know it’s been getting great reviews, but it just doesn’t appeal to me at all. So I’m going to pass this one by.
The Belles by Dohnielle Clayton
Another one that’s kind of in the same vein as Girls of Paper and Fire. Like not exactly, but I kind of get the same vibe from it. And I’m just not interesting. It leaves me cold. I’m not excited about it whenever I think about getting it. So I’m just not going to.
The Montague Siblings series by Makenzie Lee
I have been trying to get myself to want to read these books for forever. Cause I’ve heard so many people loving them and praising them. But I just I don’t know. There’s just something about them that doesn’t appeal to me. So, I’m not going to force myself.
The Androma Saga by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsey Cummings
I know people kind of have mixed opinions about this one. But it is fairly popular, but I just have no interest in it. I think it’s great that Sasha published her book and I enjoy watching her videos, but I’m just honestly not interested in this series.
The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare
I kept the most controversial for the end. I actually didn’t even know this was going to be a thing until I started seeing people reading it on Goodreads. And then after finding out it was a thing… I just found myself really not interested. I loved Alec and Magnus as characters and as a couple, but I don’t know. I’m just happy with where I left them when I last saw them. I’m still going to read Queen of Air and Darkness and most likely also The Last Hours series. But I’m just not interested in this one.
So these are the top popular books that I just am not interested in even though they are genres that I do generally enjoy.
